CNC Mill Set Up Operator Norwalk, CA 90650 $25

  • Full-time Metal and machine workers set up and operate machines that cut, shape, and form metal materials or pieces.
Operate conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Set up machines and monitor them for unusual sound or vibration Lift material onto machines, manually or with a hoist Operate metal molding, casting, or core-making machines Work from blueprints, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) or computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) files Set up, operate, and tear down manual, automatic, or computer numeric controlled (CNC) machine tools Calculate dimensions using measuring instruments Install, align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and workpieces Turn, mill, drill, shape, and grind machine parts to specifications Monitor the feed and speed of machines Adjust cutting machine settings to account for irregularities Stop machines and remove finished products Test and measure finished products Remove and replace dull cutting tools Document production numbers in a computer database Studies blueprints, sketches, drawing, manuals, specification, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required. Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications. Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
QUALIFICATIONS
Proven experience as a CNC milling setup/operator. Skilled in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools. Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings. Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM. Mechanical aptitude and good math skills. A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach. Good communication abilities. High school diploma or equivalent; certificate or diploma in tech or trade school program a plus. Successfully completed apprenticeship preferred. Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
