Job Description

CNC Saw Operator The CNC Saw Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of Amada CNC band saws and related automated cutting equipment. This role plays a key part in the early stages of fabrication and machining by preparing raw material—such as metal bar stock, tubing, structural shapes, and plate—into precision-cut components ready for downstream production. The operator will program, set up, and run CNC saw equipment while ensuring all parts meet strict dimensional tolerances and quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to safety and production efficiency. 1st shift / 6am - 2:30pm + overtime/Saturday as needed Core Responsibilities1. Machine Setup & Operation Set up and operate Amada CNC band saws (including HFA and PCSAW series or similar models) Load, review, and execute CNC cut programs according to work orders or production schedules Input and adjust cutting parameters such as: Feed rate Blade speed Cutting angles (miter and compound cuts) Install and align raw materials using clamps, vises, rollers, and fixtures Adjust stops, guides, and length settings to achieve precise cut dimensions 2. Cutting & Production Execution Perform accurate cutting of various metals including: Steel (mild, alloy, stainless) Aluminum and non-ferrous materials (as required) Execute straight, angled, and multi-cut sequences based on job specifications Continuously monitor cutting operations to ensure consistency and quality Identify and correct issues such as blade wear, material shift, or cutting deviation during production runs 3. Quality Control & Inspection Measure finished parts using precision tools such as: Calipers Tape measures Angle finders/protractors Verify dimensions against blueprints, work orders, and cut lists Ensure all pieces meet required tolerances before releasing to the next stage of production Document and report discrepancies or material defects when necessary 4. Equipment Maintenance & Housekeeping Perform routine maintenance such as: Blade inspection and replacement Lubrication checks Cleaning chips and debris from machine and work area Keep saw equipment and surrounding area clean, organized, and free of hazards Support preventive maintenance schedules and report mechanical issues promptly 5. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines Safely handle heavy and raw materials using proper lifting techniques or material-handling equipment Operate forklifts or overhead cranes if certified (preferred) Maintain awareness of moving machinery, sharp materials, and pinch points at all times Required Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent 1-2 years of experience operating CNC or manual band saws in a manufacturing or fabrication environment Ability to read and interpret: Blueprints Work orders Cut lists and technical drawings Proficiency with measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, angle finders, etc.) Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, geometry) Understanding of safe material handling and shop safety practices Preferred Qualifications Direct experience with Amada CNC saw systems (HFA series, PCSAW, or similar) Familiarity with Amada AMNC or comparable CNC control interfaces Experience cutting a range of metals including stainless steel, alloy steel, and non-ferrous materials Forklift certification and/or overhead crane certification Completion of a machining, welding, or manufacturing technology program
Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
