Job Description
CNC Lathe Operator (Setup & Operation)Job Type
Key ResponsibilitiesSet up CNC lathes, including tooling, offsets, workholding, and program loading.
Operate CNC lathes to produce precision components to print specifications.
Perform first-article inspections and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and machining instructions.
Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain efficient cycle times.
Conduct routine machine maintenance and keep work areas clean and organized.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve production challenges.
Document production data, inspections, and any deviations from standard processes.
Required QualificationsMinimum 2-5 years of CNC lathe setup and operator experience (non-negotiable).Strong understanding of tooling, speeds/feeds, and machining best practices.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators).Experience performing setups independently with minimal supervision.
Solid troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with Swiss-type lathes (Citizen, Star, Tsugami, etc.) or screw machines IS A PLUS, but NOT REQUIRED.Familiarity with G-code editing or minor program adjustments.
Background in high-precision or tight-tolerance production environments.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
Work Environment & ScheduleFull-time position in a production machining environment.
May require overtime depending on production needs.
