Job Description
Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Operator specializing in 5 Axis Milling machines to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in CNC machining, including programming, setup, and operation of complex multi-axis milling equipment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with precision metal components, utilizing advanced machining techniques to produce high-quality parts that meet strict specifications. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with CAD/CAM software, and a commitment to manufacturing excellence. Responsibilities Set up and operate 5 Axis CNC milling machines, ensuring accurate machine configuration and calibration for each job. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements and tooling specifications. Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, and CAM software such as SolidWorks or other CAD/CAM tools to generate precise toolpaths. Perform machine tool adjustments, including tool changes and calibration, to optimize machining performance. Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other measurement instruments to verify part quality during and after production. Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety standards and best practices in manufacturing. Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, programming errors, or machine malfunctions; perform manual machining or grinding as needed for repairs or finishing. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing practices to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Conduct quality inspections utilizing GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to ensure parts meet specifications. Collaborate with engineering teams on tooling design, fixture setup, and process optimization for complex 5-axis milling projects. Experience Proven experience operating 5 Axis CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment with a focus on metal machining. Proficiency in CNC programming using G-code/M-code and CAM software such as SolidWorks or other CAD/CAM platforms. Strong understanding of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and GD&T standards. Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), grinding tools, lathes, and manual machining techniques is advantageous. Knowledge of machining tools, tooling setup, measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers), and precision measurement techniques essential for quality control. Mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately is required. Experience with lean manufacturing principles and the use of hand tools, power tools, grinders, and other manual equipment in a production setting. Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine offsets; attention to detail is critical for maintaining high standards of quality.
