The successful candidate will support the production of high-value ceramic and metal components and assemblies. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and a commitment to meeting quality and production goals within defined timelines. Experience working with brittle materials such as glass and ceramics is essential. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with new products and in situations where achieving results depends on making correct decisions in ambiguous circumstances.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up parts on CNC machines, including running and testing programs, making minor edits, and setting tool offsets Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine tolerances and dimensions Inspect machined parts to ensure they meet quality standards Troubleshoot machine performance and make necessary adjustments for out-of-tolerance conditions Perform preventive maintenance and maintain a clean and organized work area Follow established work instructions, standard operating procedures, and ensure proper documentation is completed Collaborate with production control, quality, and other team members to meet manufacturing schedules and delivery targets Maintain a safe and orderly work environment Adapt to new products, processes, and situations requiring independent judgment
Desired Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (trade school background preferred) Technical Associate degree is a plus Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience machining brittle materials or composites, such as glass and ceramics Experience with CNC machines in a manufacturing environment Experience with DMG 5-axis and Hurco machines is a plus Experience with Mastercam or similar CNC programming software Experience with proper selection and application of diamond tooling for machining ceramics and glass Experience with jig grinding and/or surface grinding using Blanchard or reciprocating surface grinders Experience with ultrasonic-assisted machining of ceramics is a plus Strong mechanical aptitude and good hand-eye coordination Comfortable making independent decisions in ambiguous or new-product situations Ability to work independently after training Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
