Job Title:
CNC Machine Operator (Lathe) Job Description We are seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator to support the production of high-quality mechanical power transmission components. This role focuses on CNC lathe operations, full production setups, quality inspection, and continuous improvement in a precision manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is technically strong, safety-focused, and dependable. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC lathe machines through the full production cycle. Perform machining operations including turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling. Optimize setup times, maintain offsets, and maximize machine utilization and productivity. Read and interpret blueprints, route sheets, and machining instructions. Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles. Troubleshoot CNC programs and make necessary adjustments. Conduct in-process inspections and report non-conformance issues to leads or supervisors. Collaborate with production, quality, and management teams to resolve quality concerns. Perform daily preventive maintenance and document findings. Accurately document production issues and shift handoffs. Follow all safety procedures and consistently wear required PPE. Essential Skills Experience with CNC lathe setup and operation. Proficiency using calipers, gauges, and precision measuring tools. Strong basic math skills. Knowledge of metals, part-holding fixtures, and lathe/mill tooling. Ability to document machining processes accurately. Ability to read, write, and complete production logs in English. Strong understanding of machining practices and mechanical principles. Ability to lift, push, pull, and position heavy components. Ability to stand for a full shift in a non-climate-controlled shop environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Okuma lathes preferred. The work is conducted in a non-climate-controlled shop environment, requiring adherence to safety protocols and consistent use of personal protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Scottdale, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
