CNC Finishing Department Operator Department:
Manufacturing/Finishing Reports To:
Finishing Department Supervisor or Production Manager Job Summary The CNC Finishing Department Operator is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the CNC machine shop by preparing raw materials, distributing them to machines, performing deburring and finishing tasks, maintaining cleanliness, and conducting basic visual quality inspections. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety and quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Material Preparation and Distribution :
Cut raw materials to specified dimensions using appropriate tools and equipment. Distribute prepared materials to CNC machines to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
Deburring and Finishing :
Operate tumblers to deburr and finish CNC machined parts, removing burrs, sharp edges, and imperfections. Assist with manual deburring of parts directly from CNC machines as needed.
Machine Maintenance and Cleanup :
Remove metal chips and debris from CNC machines, collect them, and transfer to larger chip bins for recycling. Perform general building cleaning tasks, including mopping floors, sweeping, and maintaining a tidy workspace to uphold safety and efficiency.
Quality Inspection :
Visually inspect finished parts for obvious defects, such as missing machined features, dents, dings, scratches, or other quality issues. Report any discrepancies to supervisors for further evaluation.
Safety and Compliance :
Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
Other Duties :
Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors to support overall department operations.
Qualifications Education and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent not required. Previous experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment preferred, with familiarity in CNC operations, deburring, or material handling a plus.
Skills and Abilities :
Strong attention to detail with a keen eye for identifying quality defects. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to operate tools and machinery safely. Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a team-oriented setting.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions. Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach as needed for cleaning and material handling tasks.
Other Requirements :
Reliable attendance and a positive attitude toward continuous improvement. Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime if required. Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing shop setting with exposure to noise, coolants, oils, metal chips, sharp cutting tools and machinery. Safety gear is provided and must be worn at all times. The role involves moderate physical activity, which includes but is not limited to standing on your feet all day, moving raw material, parts, etc. for your shift. Shift/Wage Current day shift if Monday through Friday 7am to 3:30pm with a 30 min lunch. Wage is starting at $18 an hour depending on experience. We are ATF regulated as a 07 FFL and 02 SOT, all applicants must be able to legally purchase and be around firearms. References from past employers for us to call and a resume showing the last 5-10 yrs of complete work history.
Pay:
$18.00 - $18.50 per hour
