Job Description
A metal manufacturing company in the Chicago Metro Region is seeking an experienced CNC Horizontal Lathe Operator to machine large, heavy components. This is a hands-on setup and operating position. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC horizontal lathes. Machine large metal components to blueprint specifications. Load, indicate, secure, and position heavy workpieces. Perform tooling changes and make offset adjustments. Read blueprints and verify dimensions using precision measuring tools. Complete first-piece and in-process inspections. Monitor tooling, machine performance, and part quality. Use cranes, hoists, and material-handling equipment as needed. Follow safety and quality procedures. Qualifications Previous CNC horizontal lathe operating experience. Experience machining large or heavy components required. Ability to perform machine setups and tooling changes. Strong blueprint-reading and measurement skills. Experience machining steel or other metals. CNC programming experience is not required. Experience with gearboxes, shafts, rolls, forgings, castings, heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or other large-component machining is a plus.
