Job Description
Our client, a growing precision manufacturer with over 50 years of success, is seeking an experienced 5-Axis C NC Machinist to join its team. This is a hands-on position for a skilled setup machinist who can independently set up CNC mills, lathes, turning centers, and machining centers , make program edits at the control, and troubleshoot machining issues without relying on a dedicated programmer. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC vertical machining centers (VMCs), horizontal machining centers (HMCs), CNC lathes, CNC mills and turning centers. Install and qualify tooling, fixtures, vises, and workholding. Load programs and make offsets and minor program edits at the machine control. Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, engineering drawings, and customer specifications. Perform first-piece inspections before releasing jobs to production. Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment. Monitor part quality throughout production and make offset corrections as needed. Troubleshoot tooling, machining, and dimensional issues to minimize downtime and scrap. Perform routine preventive maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area. Support production goals while working collaboratively with fellow machinists and operators. Qualifications 3-8+ years of CNC machining experience. Strong setup experience with CNC mills, CNC lathes, and turning centers . Must have experience with 5-axis equipment Ability to make program edits and offsets independently at the machine. Experience with heavy CNC equipment preferred. Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and hold tight tolerances. Strong knowledge of tooling, cutting parameters, and precision machining. Team-oriented with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
