Position Overview PSG is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator to independently set up and operate CNC lathes for the manufacture of precision components. This role is responsible for translating blueprints and technical specifications into accurate setups, verifying programs and tooling, and maintaining quality throughout the machining process. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of CNC lathe setup and operating experience. Experience with G-code, Mastercam, or DMG conversational programming is desired, and turn-mill machining experience is a plus.
Night-Shift Premium:
10% Key Responsibilities Independently set up and operate CNC lathes to produce precision components. Read and interpret complex blueprints, geometric dimensions and tolerances, technical specifications, and work instructions. Determine appropriate machining sequences, tooling, workholding, speeds, and feeds. Install and align cutting tools, fixtures, jaws, and workpieces. Establish tool offsets, work coordinates, and machine reference points. Review, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs as required for successful production. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments. Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality. Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, dimensional, and equipment-related issues. Complete production, inspection, and quality documentation accurately. Maintain equipment and assigned work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Follow all company safety, quality, and operating procedures. Required Qualifications At least five years of CNC lathe setup and operating experience. Ability to independently set up and produce parts from blueprints and technical specifications. Strong blueprint-reading, shop-math, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing skills. Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments. Strong understanding of cutting tools, workholding methods, speeds, feeds, and machining practices. Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
Experience:
5+ years Preferred Qualifications G-code programming experience. Experience with Mastercam or DMG conversational programming. Turn-mill machining experience. Experience machining complex, low-volume, or tight-tolerance components. Experience supporting the power generation, turbine repair, or heavy industrial sectors. Why Join PSG? Pay:
$28.00 - $32.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
