Job Title:
CNC Punch Press Operator Job Description This role operates a Boschert CNC punch press to produce precision parts by punching holes into copper and aluminum bars. You will perform machine setups, run production lots, monitor equipment for issues, and ensure parts meet quality standards while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area. Responsibilities Operate a Boschert CNC punch press to punch holes into copper and aluminum bars according to specifications. Perform all assigned machine shop operations on the CNC punch press, including setup, retooling, and adjustments. Set up the machine for multiple production runs per day, including tooling and changeovers. Make minor edits to CNC programs to ensure accurate and efficient production. Detect and report defective materials, questionable conditions, or machine malfunctions to the appropriate personnel. Grind bars as needed to meet dimensional and finish requirements. Regularly perform bending, milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing, and sanding tasks as part of the machining process. Inspect machined products for quality and conformance to specifications and document inspection results. Complete and maintain all required paperwork and documentation for parts and production runs. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures at all times. Communicate effectively with co-workers regarding production runs, issues, and priorities to support smooth workflow. Follow all manufacturing shop policies and procedures to support a safe and efficient CNC shop environment. Essential Skills 2-5 years of CNC punch press experience, preferably operating Boschert or similar CNC punch press equipment. Proven experience performing machine setups, including multiple setups per day, tooling changes, and changeovers. Ability to make minor edits to CNC programs to adjust for part quality and production efficiency. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, measurements, and numerical data accurately. Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in bending, milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing, and sanding. Ability to detect defective materials, questionable conditions, and equipment issues and report them promptly. Ability to complete and maintain production and quality paperwork accurately and on time. Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment in a manufacturing CNC shop. Effective written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members and leadership. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Boschert CNC punch press equipment or similar CNC punch press machines. Familiarity with tooling selection, tooling maintenance, and efficient changeovers. Comfort working with both copper and aluminum materials in a production environment. Basic understanding of quality inspection practices and documentation in a manufacturing setting. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while following established procedures. Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing CNC shop environment working with Boschert CNC punch press equipment and related machining tools. You will work around active machinery and metal materials, performing tasks such as bending, milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing, and sanding. One opening is available on second shift, working Monday through Thursday from 2:30 PM to 1:00 AM on four 10-hour shifts. One opening is available on first shift, working from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, and you will be expected to follow all prescribed safety procedures and shop practices while working on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Monee, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
