The CNC machinist loads parts in the machine, cycles machine and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment. Essential Functions Performs all assigned machine shop operations. Maintain quality standards by visually and/or dimensionally inspecting production material and finished products by detecting and reporting defective materials, questionable conditions, machine problems or malfunctioning equipment to Set-Up Person, Group Leader, Shop Supervisor Quality Personnel. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures. Regularly performs boring, milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, countersinking, sawing and sanding tasks to drawing specifications on a variety of parts. Record all production run data in our manufacturing ERP software, JobBOSS. Assists Set-Up personnel as needed. Use program and tools furnished, position pre-set tools in magazine according to code numbers, set machine and fixtures according to layout and tooling list. Clean machines, tooling, or parts, using solvents, solutions, and rags. Maintain related records, perform associated handling duties, make suggestions for improvements in machining techniques and perform related miscellaneous duties as required by Plant Management. Operate/attend additional machines during the automatic cycle of the machine center as needed. Meet productivity and quality goals provided by the Group Leader, Quality Manager, and/or Shop Supervisor. Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration, and adjust machines to compensate for problems. Competencies Communicate effectively. Ability to read blueprints. Ability to read a caliper, micrometer. Practical knowledge of general shop mathematics and identifying tolerance conditions. Strong attention to detail. Teamwork mentality. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes chemical solvents or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are up to 50 pounds. Must be 18 years or older. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Employees on the day shift work Monday

  • 4:30 PM. Employees on the night shift work Monday

  • 4:30AM.
Occasionally work will be available/required on Saturdays and Sundays. Staffing needs and operational demands may necessitate variations in starting and ending times, as well as variations in the total hours that may be scheduled each day and week. Your supervisor will notify you of your work schedule.
