Job Description

CoWorx Staffing Services is seeking CNC Band Saw Operator candidates in the Biddeford, ME area. The CNC Band Saw Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and inspection of band saw equipment to accurately cut metal materials according to job travelers, cut lists, and safety standards. This role ensures quality, efficiency, and safe operation while supporting production and inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on band saw equipment Set up band saws, including indexer setup as required Start up, operate, and shut down band saws following established procedures and manufacturer safety guidelines Measure work-piece dimensions during cutting operations to ensure quality and repeatability Design or recommend tooling improvements to increase efficiency Confirm all machine guards are in place and operational prior to operation Maintain daily and weekly preventive maintenance (PM) logs and complete PM per manufacturer requirements Monitor saw blades, machine operation, and workpieces to identify defects or malfunctions Cut and verify tubing, flat bar, round stock, and other materials as required Accurately report material usage and returns for inventory tracking Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas to prevent slips, trips, and falls Follow safe pallet stacking and weight capacity guidelines Perform additional duties as needed to support company goals In-Process Inspection Requirements Confirm material thickness and check for defects or damage Follow "measure twice, cut once" practices Re-verify length every 10 cuts Verify material quantities against job requirements
Desired Background/Skills:
Minimum Qualifications / Technical Knowledge High school diploma or equivalent Ability to understand written, oral, and diagram-based instructions Experience interpreting job travelers and work orders Understanding of cut lists and Bills of Materials (BOMs) Ability to identify material types and sizes Proficient in reading tape measures and dial calipers Ability to convert decimals and fractions per job travelers and blueprints
