Job Description

Program highlights Based in Kentwood, MI , this apprenticeship blends paid on-the-job training with company-paid coursework to help you master both manual and CNC machining. You can begin working immediately (or after high school), and your classes at the Grand Rapids Community College Advanced Tech Center will start this Fall. Curriculum you will complete Safety Precision Measuring and Layout Pedestal Grinder/Tool Sharpening Drilling Machines Hand Tools and Benchwork Saw Operations Milling Machines Engine Lathe Surface Grinder Basic CNC Programming Haas CNC Mill Haas CNC Lathe
CAD/CAM/CNC
Charmilles EDM Haas CNC Laser Blueprint Reading Shop Math GD&T Metallurgy Machinery's Handbook SPC Your core responsibilities Operate manual and CNC machines (lathes, mills, grinders) with guidance. Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to ensure part quality. Support senior machinists in diagnosing and correcting machining issues. Maintain a neat, safe, and organized work area. Engage in ongoing training sessions and skill-building workshops. Conduct routine equipment checks and basic maintenance. Work with the team to achieve production goals and deadlines. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; machining-related classes are a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn. Foundational knowledge of machining tools and processes preferred, not required.
