Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated Setup Technician to join our manufacturing team and ensure the seamless initiation of production processes. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for preparing machinery, tools, and materials to optimize manufacturing operations. Your expertise will help maintain high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency across various production lines, including plastics blow molding, injection molding, extrusion, and machining. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment where precision and attention to detail are paramount. Duties Set up and calibrate manufacturing equipment such as press brake machines, CNC lathes, CNC machines, and plastics extrusion and injection molding machinery to meet production specifications. Utilize hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure accurate machine adjustments and part dimensions. Operate forklifts and handle materials safely within the warehouse or fabrication areas to support materials handling needs. Perform quality inspections on machined parts and molded products to verify adherence to specifications using appropriate measurement tools. Assist in fabrication and assembly processes by preparing components according to technical drawings and work instructions. Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize setup procedures, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency. Document setup procedures, machine parameters, and inspection results accurately for process control and continuous improvement. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in manufacturing environments involving plastics blow molding, injection molding, extrusion, or machining. Proficiency with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for troubleshooting automated equipment. Ability to operate various machinery including press brake machines, CNC lathes, CNC mills, and fabrication tools. Skilled in using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments. Experience with materials handling equipment like forklifts; certification preferred. Knowledge of quality inspection techniques to ensure products meet specifications. Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices for efficient setup processes. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machine setups.
