CNC Machine Operator Piedmont Metals of Burlington Inc - 2.3 Burlington, NC Job Details 3 days ago Qualifications Manufacturing facility Full Job Description Job Summary Piedmont Metals is seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines to produce precision parts from raw materials. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, using precision measuring tools, and ensuring finished products meet quality specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, work orders, and technical drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and production requirements. Set up CNC machines, tooling, fixtures, and attachments for production runs. Program CNC equipment and make machine adjustments as needed to optimize performance and accuracy. Load raw materials and monitor machine operations to ensure quality and efficiency. Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Perform routine quality checks to verify parts meet specifications and customer requirements. Troubleshoot machine issues and make necessary adjustments to minimize downtime. Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and basic machine upkeep. Maintain a safe and organized work area. Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and team members to improve processes and production efficiency. Follow all company safety policies and PPE requirements. Qualifications Minimum 1 year of CNC machining or related manufacturing experience required. 2+ years of CNC machining experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Experience using precision measuring instruments. Familiarity with CNC programming software and machining processes preferred. Knowledge of machining tolerances and quality standards. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Experience with both manual and CNC machining equipment. Experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment. Knowledge of CAM software and CNC programming. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and movement throughout the workday. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise. Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing environment and requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots as required.
