Homag 5 Axis CNC Operator

Position Overview Metropolitan Woodwork is seeking an experienced CNC Operator focused on wood door production to join our shop team. This role is centered around machining flush wood doors, core prep, hinge/lock cutouts, and hardware routing using Homag CNC equipment. We are not looking for a programmer from scratch. We need someone who can run machines efficiently, maintain quality, and keep production moving . Key Responsibilities Operate Homag CNC machines for wood door machining and prep Run programs for hinge pockets, locksets, closers, vision panels, and hardware cutouts Load/unload doors and materials safely and efficiently Verify layouts and dimensions based on shop drawings and door schedules Perform tool changes, calibration, and basic machine maintenance Maintain tight tolerances and consistent quality across production runs Inspect finished parts using measuring tools before moving to finishing/assembly Keep work area clean and organized; follow all shop safety procedures Qualifications Experience operating CNC machines in a millwork or door shop environment Familiarity with wood doors, hardware prep, and architectural millwork Ability to read shop drawings, door schedules, and layouts Basic understanding of CNC operation (program loading, offsets, tooling) Strong attention to detail and consistency Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment Forklift experience is a plus What We're Looking For Someone who can run production without constant supervision Not a beginner.
