CNC Operator
- 2nd Shift Job Description This direct-hire role focuses on operating multiple CNC lathes and mills in a modern, high-volume manufacturing environment.
You will run 2-3 CNC machines, perform tooling changes and adjustments, and ensure parts meet quality and productivity standards through accurate setup, operation, and inspection. Responsibilities Operate 2-3 CNC machines, primarily lathes (such as Okuma) and potentially mills, to produce high-quality components. Load and unload parts from CNC machines safely and efficiently to maintain continuous production flow. Position parts correctly within machine workholding devices to ensure accurate machining and part integrity. Perform machine tooling changes as needed, working with 6-7 different pieces of tooling to support various jobs. Make process adjustments to maintain optimal productivity, dimensional accuracy, and part quality. Perform all required inspections during and after machining, and accurately document and record inspection results as required. Use inspection and measurement tools, including micrometers and calipers, to verify dimensions and tolerances. Read and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications, features, and tolerances. Perform tool changes, adjustments, tear downs, and setups as needed to support production requirements. Assist with or perform changeovers and setups to transition machines between different parts or jobs. Monitor machine performance and report any issues with equipment, tooling, or quality to appropriate personnel. Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area. Work collaboratively with team members and demonstrate a strong commitment to building a long-term career and expanding CNC skills. Essential Skills Hands-on CNC machining experience, preferably with lathes and mills in a production environment. Experience operating CNC equipment such as Okuma, Fanuc, Haas, and Mazak controls or machines. Ability to perform tool changes, adjustments, tear downs, and setups on CNC machines. Proficiency with changeovers and setups to support different parts and production runs. Blueprint reading skills to interpret part specifications, dimensions, and tolerances. Ability to use measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges, for in-process and final inspection. Experience performing inspections and documenting inspection results accurately and consistently. Basic understanding of CNC programming concepts and program edits (as applicable to the role). Demonstrated work history showing reliability and a desire to build a long-term career in CNC machining. High school diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CNC lathes and mills in a high-volume manufacturing or automotive environment. Familiarity with CNC controls and platforms such as Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, and Okuma. Ability to perform or assist with program edits to optimize processes or address minor issues. Prior experience with changeovers, setups, and tool management in a multi-machine environment. Comfort working with precision measurement tools and following detailed inspection procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. Interest in continuous learning and expanding CNC skillsets through on-the-job development and training. Why Work Here? Operations run on three shifts over a five-day, Monday-Friday schedule, with opportunities for overtime and shift premiums for second and third shifts. The plant is clean and equipped with automated CNC machinery, including lathes and mills, and uses modern inspection tools such as micrometers and calipers.
