CNC Machine Operator Job Description This role focuses on operating CNC equipment, including a shear and rebar bender, to produce accurately sized bars based on technical drawings. You will interpret drawings, create bar lists, and program machines using CNC software and G-code in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position requires strong basic math skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with another machine operator in a dedicated area of the plant. Responsibilities Operate the shear and rebar bender to produce bars to specified sizes and dimensions. Review and interpret technical drawings to determine required bar sizes and quantities. Create detailed lists of bar sizes based on drawings and production requirements. Program CNC machines using DXF files, G-code, and vector/wireframe CNC programming software, preferably VCarve Pro. Convert measurements between decimals and fractions accurately and consistently. Set up, run, and monitor CNC machines to ensure efficient and accurate production. Use hand tools and related equipment safely to support machine operation and production tasks. Collaborate with another operator while running machines in a designated area of the plant. Maintain a fast work pace while ensuring quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications. Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times. Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards in a manufacturing environment. Essential Skills Proven experience operating CNC machines, such as CNC routers or similar equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Strong math skills, including reliable conversion between decimals and fractions. Proficiency with DXF files and G-code for CNC programming. PC proficiency, with the ability to navigate and use software confidently rather than at a basic level. Experience with vector or wireframe CNC programming software, preferably VCarve Pro. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Solid computer skills to support programming, file management, and machine operation. Comfort using hand tools and other equipment commonly used in machine operation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing or production setting operating CNC machinery. Familiarity with CNC routers and related programming workflows. Exposure to working with vector and wireframe designs for CNC applications. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both measurements and programming. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain productivity in a busy plant environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing environment where you will work in a designated area of the plant alongside another operator. You will operate CNC machines, including a shear and rebar bender, and use hand tools and PC-based CNC programming software such as VCarve Pro, DXF file handling, and G-code. Proper safety gear is required, including steel-toed boots above the ankle and a hard hat, reflecting a safety-conscious industrial setting with active production and machinery. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
