Full Job Description Role Overview:
CNC Operator As a CNC Operator, you will be a cornerstone of our Advanced Manufacturing and Digital Fabrication team. You will lead the hands-on execution of complex projects, utilizing 3-axis CNC routers, precision laser cutters, and various subtractive manufacturing tools to produce high-tolerance parts and subassemblies for BRDG's world-class experiential design and creative technology installations. With 4+ years of professional CNC machining experience, you are an expert in CAM programming, G-code manipulation, and feeds and speeds optimization. You thrive in a high-precision fabrication environment, working cross-functionally with designers and engineers to bridge the gap between digital models and physical reality. Key Responsibilities Technical CNC Operation & Production Execute high-precision CNC machining and laser cutting workflows for diverse materials (wood, plastics, composites, non-ferrous metals). Utilize CAM software to program, simulate, and optimize toolpaths based on CAD files (Rhino, Fusion 360, AutoCAD). Perform advanced material nesting to maximize yield and minimize waste. Conduct complex machine setups, including fixturing, work offsets, and tooling calibration. Equipment Maintenance & Shop Operations Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) and routine troubleshooting to ensure 99% equipment uptime. Maintain a high-functioning 5S environment (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) within the Digital Fabrication Shop. Manage tooling inventory, identifying wear and coordinating with leads for sharpening or replacement. Collaboration & Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Partner with Designers and Engineers to provide DFM (Design for Manufacturing) feedback on fabrication feasibility. Communicate technical bottlenecks to Project Managers to ensure production milestones are met. Assist in rapid prototyping phases and transition prototypes into full-scale production runs. Quality Control & Precision Assurance Inspect output using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure parts meet tight tolerances. Maintain rigorous Production Logs and quality assurance documentation. Iterate on fabrication processes to improve cycle times and finish quality. About You (Qualifications & Technical Skills)Experience:
4+ years as a CNC Operator, Machinist, or Digital Fabricator in a professional production shop.Technical Literacy:
Expert-level ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D CAD models.Software Proficiency:
Experience with CAM/Vectric/Mastercam or similar software; ability to troubleshoot G-code at the controller.Material Science:
Strong understanding of how different materials react to spindle speeds, chip loads, and specific bit geometries.Shop Math:
High proficiency in geometry, layout, and precision measurement.Material Handling:
Experience with Forklift Operation and basic rigging for loading oversized sheets and heavy materials.Physicality:
Ability to lift 25-50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally.Mindset:
