CNC Machine Operator Job Description This role operates CNC machines such as mills and lathes to produce precision parts according to detailed specifications in a clean, quality-focused manufacturing environment. The CNC Machine Operator ensures consistent product quality by monitoring equipment, performing basic inspections, and accurately following blueprints and work instructions. This position supports a fast-paced, team-oriented production setting with a strong emphasis on compliance and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Operate CNC machines, including mills, lathes, or similar equipment, to produce parts according to engineering specifications and production requirements. Monitor machine operations continuously to ensure consistent quality, performance, and adherence to established standards. Load raw materials into CNC machines and safely remove finished products, ensuring proper handling and organization of parts. Perform basic inspections using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment to verify part dimensions and quality. Read and follow basic blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and production guidelines to set up and run jobs correctly. Complete all required documentation for production and quality tracking accurately and on time, including logs, checklists, and inspection records. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following 5S and housekeeping practices and adhering to safety procedures. Communicate any machine issues, quality concerns, or deviations from specifications promptly to leadership or appropriate team members. Support a high-quality, compliance-driven environment by following GMP, ISO, and internal quality procedures as applicable. Work independently and as part of a team to meet production schedules, throughput goals, and quality targets. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, or safety in the machining process. Essential Skills At least 12 months of CNC machine operation experience or general manufacturing experience with exposure to machining. Hands-on experience operating CNC mills, lathes, or similar machine tools in a production environment. Basic understanding and practical use of measurement tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers for part inspection. Ability to read and follow written instructions, work orders, and basic production documentation. Capability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail and adherence to quality standards. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic, with a commitment to meeting production and quality expectations. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with a strong focus on quality and precision. Experience reading blueprints or technical drawings to understand part requirements and dimensions. Familiarity with quality-driven environments, including exposure to GMP, ISO, or similar regulatory or quality frameworks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating CNC machines equipped with controls such as Fanuc or Haas. Exposure to CNC mills and CNC lathes in a machine shop or precision machining environment. Experience with basic machine setup activities, including loading programs, setting tools, and verifying offsets under guidance. Prior work in a machine shop environment with a focus on precision machining and inspection. Familiarity with general machining practices and terminology, including milling, turning, and inspection processes.
