The CNC Operator will perform machining operation by studying work orders, blue prints, engineering drawings, materials and specifications. Work is performed in a clean climate-controlled environment. Tools are provided.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, according to required machining sequences.
  • Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
  • Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctions.
  • Lift workpieces to machines manually or with hoists or cranes.
  • Stack or load finished items.
  • Control coolant systems.
  • Maintain machines and remove and replace broken or worn machine tools, using hand tools.
  • Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors or to obtain approval to continue production.
  • Clean machines, tooling, or parts, using solvents or solutions and rags.
  • Required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong analytical, mechanical, and solution driven skills.
  • Must possess strong math skills.
  • Must be able to read/comprehend part drawings with fractional and /or decimal dimensions.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team.
  • Good communication skills (both verbally and in writing) with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and management.
  • Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
  • Demonstrate reliability.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO
  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, atmospheric conditions such as dust and fumes.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions: standing, walking, balancing, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
  • Ability of occasionally lift or carry 50 pounds.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working in a Machine Shop, preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Machining Certification from an accredited technical college, preferred.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Completion of an Apprenticeship Program, Internship, Technical Program or equivalent experience in CNC and Manual Machining preferred.
