Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description The role involves operating specialized fabrication equipment used in the metal bending and cutting processes for large window and glass units. Candidates will be responsible for running CNC machines, changing programs for each production run, manipulating CNC control panels, and utilizing computer-based programs and measurement tools. This position requires proficiency in operating saws, brake presses, and other specialized metal bending equipment, along with the ability to interpret digital 3D drawings and reprogram machines as needed. Responsibilities Operate CNC equipment specific to the industry and manage program changes for each run. Manipulate CNC control panels and use computer-based programs throughout shifts. Operate saws, brake presses, and specialized metal bending equipment. Meet daily and overall production goals for respective departments. Utilize hoists and team lifts to move larger pieces of sheet metal or glass materials. Essential Skills Proficiency in machine operation, CNC setup, and CNC equipment with 1-2 years of experience. Experience in metal fabrication for 1-2 years. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and digital 3D drawings. Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in measuring tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in metal fabrication or manufacturing with strong computer skills. Experience in quality control, inspections using calipers and micrometers. Work Environment The work environment is a non-climate controlled facility with loud machines and busy assemblers during peak seasons. Employees may be exposed to outdoor elements when retrieving materials or performing housekeeping duties. The company emphasizes precise contributions and cross-training in a team setting. Shift times are from 2:30 PM to 11 PM for the second shift, with initial training on the day shift from 6 AM to 2:30 PM. Attendance is closely monitored with a three-strike system to ensure deadlines are met efficiently. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
