Senior CNC Programmer / Fusion 360 Expert Part-Time Contract / Project-Based About Wright Armory Wright Armory is a firearms manufacturing, machining, and coatings company focused on producing high-quality products while continuously improving manufacturing efficiency, quality, repeatability, and throughput. We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Process Development Specialist to assist with fixture design, palletized production, CAM programming, process optimization, and manufacturing system development across existing and future product lines. This is not a machine operator position. We are looking for an experienced manufacturing professional who is extremely well versed in Fusion 360 and is capable of evaluating existing production processes, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing practical improvements that increase spindle utilization, throughput, repeatability, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities Develop and optimize CNC machining processes for production components Design and implement production fixtures, pallets, and workholding solutions Create, modify, and optimize CAM programs for new and existing products Develop probing routines, automated setup verification, and process controls Improve cycle times, setup times, machine utilization, and manufacturing throughput Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement Assist with prototype development and transition to production manufacturing Create setup documentation and process instructions Support manufacturing capacity planning and scalability initiatives Provide training and knowledge transfer to internal personnel as needed Evaluate machine utilization, manufacturing capacity, and process flow to support production growth and scalability Required Experience CNC programming experience in a production manufacturing environment Extensive Autodesk Fusion experience, including CAM programming Haas VF-Series machining center experience Production workholding and fixture design experience Multi-part pallet design and implementation experience CNC setup, process development, and manufacturing optimization experience Haas WIPS and/or Renishaw probing experience Macro programming experience Understanding of work offsets, extended offsets, probing routines, and automated setup strategies Ability to independently develop manufacturing processes from concept through production Preferred Experience Lights-out machining strategies Manufacturing process engineering Small-part production machining Firearms industry experience CAD design for fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing aids Experience taking machined components from concept and prototype through first article inspection, process validation, and production manufacturing Design for Manufacturability (DFM), CAD/CAM development, and production process development Desired Mindset We are seeking a practical manufacturing professional who can evaluate and improve existing manufacturing systems rather than automatically replacing them. Many of our current fixtures, programs, and manufacturing methods exist for specific operational reasons. The ideal candidate will seek to understand the intent behind existing manufacturing decisions, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement changes where they provide measurable benefit. We value measurable improvement, practical problem solving, and manufacturing efficiency over redesign for the sake of redesign.
Candidates should be comfortable:
Working within established production systems Improving existing fixtures, programs, and workflows Determining when refinement is appropriate versus when complete redesign is justified Balancing engineering best practices with practical business realities Implementing solutions that can be maintained by existing shop personnel Engagement Structure This position is expected to be project-based or part-time, with workload varying based on active manufacturing and product development projects.
Expected Engagement:
Approximately 20-45 hours per month initially, with workload varying based on active projects.
Compensation:
$45 - $60 per hour depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated capability.

Pay:
$45.00 - $60.00 per hour
