Job Summary The CNC Machinist/Fabrication Technician is responsible for programming, setup, and operating CNC machines and performing precision fabrication, assembly and modifications (welding, bonding, bending, and cutting) to of a variety of plastic bottles and components used in biopharmaceutical systems. Essential Functions Set up, program, and operate CNC machine (Trak Lathe 1630 RX) to fabricate precision parts and components according to engineering drawings, work orders, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Set up and operate fabrication equipment, including hot air welders, mills, drill presses, saws, flange forming machines, tubing benders, ultraviolet curing machines, and lathes. Fabricate, assemble, and modify components such as plastic bottles, carboys, tanks, tubing, single-use assemblies, and related components used in biopharmaceutical systems. Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, CAD files, BoM's and work instructions to ensure compliance with project specifications and biopharmaceutical standards. Use a variety of fabrication equipment and techniques, including orbital welding, tube bending, cutting, and facing, to build systems to exact tolerances and quality requirements. Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of machined and fabricated components using calibrated precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify conformance to specifications. Maintain accurate and complete documentation of lot numbers, production, inspection, machining, and fabrication activities in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and traceability requirements. Clean and prepare fabricated assemblies according controlled-environment protocols, including proper PPE and contamination control practices. Test completed products using electrical leak testers, pressure and vacuum methods, or other procedures as required by material or product type, document test results accordingly. Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and adjustments on CNC and fabrication equipment to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime. Collaborate with engineering, R D, quality, and cleanroom teams to resolve issues, ensure product integrity, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with safety standards, GMP, and 5S principles. Participate in ongoing training and development related to CNC machining, fabrication techniques, and biopharmaceutical compliance standards. Support company goals and values, adhere to policies and maintain consistent attendance and punctuality. Perform additional job duties as assigned.
Education / Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; or equivalent combination of education and experience, including technical or vocational training in CNC machining, or 4 years of related experience. Required Experience & Competencies 3+ years of CNC lathe machine programming experience along with fabrication, mechanical assembly, preferably in an ISO or GMP regulated industry such as biopharma, medical devices, or aerospace. Clear and professional written and verbal communication. Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, blueprints, BoM's and quality documentation. Excellent attention to detail. Solid math skills including percentages, area, volume, and basic geometry. Experience using fabrication equipment such as welders, mills, drill presses, benders, saws, and lathes. Ability to work with precision tools and follow detailed work instructions.
