In this pivotal role, you will lead the development, setup, and optimization of tooling for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, ensuring precision and efficiency in our machining processes. Your expertise will drive continuous improvement in tooling practices, support complex manufacturing projects, and mentor junior team members. Duties Lead the design, fabrication, and maintenance of tooling for CNC milling machines and CNC lathes using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Develop and implement CNC programming strategies, including CAM programming, to optimize machining operations for various materials such as plastics and metals. Oversee the setup and calibration of CNC equipment, ensuring adherence to strict tolerances using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges. Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret schematics, technical drawings (GD&T), and electrical schematics for accurate tooling fabrication. Conduct troubleshooting of CNC machines, including electrical discharge machining (EDM), stamping presses, and welding processes to resolve issues swiftly. Supervise the assembly, fabrication, and installation of tooling components with hand tools and fabrication equipment while maintaining safety standards. Mentor team members on best practices in machining, tooling design, CAD/CAM software applications, and the use of precision measurement tools. Ensure all tooling operations comply with manufacturing standards, safety protocols, and quality control procedures. Skills Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD for designing tooling components. Extensive experience with CNC programming for milling machines and lathes using CAM software. Strong knowledge of GD&T principles to interpret technical drawings accurately. Hands-on experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM), welding techniques, and plastics injection molding processes. Familiarity with manufacturing equipment including stamping presses, CNC machines (lathe and milling), and fabrication tools. Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of schematics, assembly procedures, and mechanical systems. Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and other precision tools. Ability to read schematics and technical drawings accurately while applying math skills for precise measurements.
