Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Mill Programmer to support a well-established aerospace manufacturing operation in Torrance, California.

This position is responsible for developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting CNC machining programs used to manufacture complex, precision components. The ideal candidate will have strong Mastercam and SolidWorks experience, hands-on CNC milling knowledge, and the ability to program 5-axis machining operations from engineering drawings and CAD models.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC programmer who enjoys working in a high-precision manufacturing environment and collaborating directly with machinists, manufacturing engineers, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, test, modify, and optimize CNC milling programs using Mastercam.

Program complex 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining operations, with an emphasis on 5-axis milling.

Use SolidWorks and CAD/CAM software to develop machining strategies, cutting paths, tooling, and tooling interfaces.

Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements.

Determine appropriate machining processes, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, fixtures, and workholding methods.

Develop efficient toolpaths to improve cycle times, productivity, tool life, and overall machining accuracy.

Set up CNC mills, tooling, fixtures, and workholding systems as required.

Perform program simulations and test runs prior to production.

Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues on the production floor.

Make program and process adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and production efficiency.

Conduct initial part inspections and verify machined components meet engineering specifications.

Utilize precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.

Create clear setup sheets, tooling documentation, and manufacturing instructions for machine operators.

Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and production personnel to resolve machining and manufacturability issues.

Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Previous hands-on experience in CNC machining and CNC programming.

Strong proficiency with Mastercam.

Experience using SolidWorks for CAD and machining applications.

Demonstrated ability to design 5-axis cutting paths, tooling, and tooling interfaces using Mastercam and SolidWorks.

Strong knowledge of G-code and M-code.

Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.

Strong understanding of CNC milling operations, tooling, feeds and speeds, workholding, and machining processes.

Experience with precision measuring and inspection equipment.

Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and trigonometry.

Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality precision components.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical degree, associate degree, apprenticeship, or formal training in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or a related discipline.

CNC Machining and/or CNC Programming certification.

Previous experience programming complex 5-axis machined components.

Experience within aerospace, aviation, defense, or other high-precision manufacturing environments.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range:

$28.00-$45.00/hour, based on experience and qualifications.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position eligible for overtime.
