This role is responsible for creating and optimizing CNC programs for plasma and flame-cutting machines using part nesting software. This is a great opportunity for someone with mechanical aptitude, CAD experience, or manufacturing background who wants to grow into a specialized programming role within a fast-paced fabrication environment. Key Responsibilities Create and optimize CNC programs for plasma and flame-cutting machines Utilize nesting software to maximize material usage and efficiency Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and shop drawings Translate design specifications into accurate machine cutting paths Adjust programs and machine settings to improve production and quality Perform and support quality assurance checks to meet specifications Troubleshoot and resolve programming or machine-related issues Collaborate with production teams, including the Burn Table Foreman and Operations Team Maintain a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or steel environment preferred Experience with CNC programming, nesting software, or CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) is highly valued Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work both independently and in a team environment Comfortable working in a shop/manufacturing setting Preferred (Nice to Have) Experience with plasma or flame cutting machines Background in steel fabrication or plate processing Familiarity with production optimization or material yield improvement Education High School Diploma or GED required Technical training or degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or Engineering is a plus Work Environment Combination of office and shop floor work Fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing setting Why Join Us Growing Pre-Fabrication Department with advancement opportunities Hands-on role with real impact on production Opportunity to develop specialized CNC programming skills Stable, full-time position with a strong team culture
