Tool Room Machinist Tibor Machine Products Bridgeview, IL 60455 Full-time Full-time Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tool Room Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision tooling, fixtures, and components used throughout the production process. Your expertise will ensure that all tools meet strict quality standards and are ready for use in various machining operations. Responsibilities Operate CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and other machining equipment such as electrical discharge machines (EDM) to produce high-precision tooling and parts. Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and write or modify CNC programs to optimize machining processes. Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications, and CAD models created in SolidWorks or other CAD software. Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify dimensions and ensure quality standards are met. Maintain and set up tooling, fixtures, and jigs for manufacturing operations while adhering to lean manufacturing principles. Perform routine maintenance on machining equipment and troubleshoot issues related to CNC programming or mechanical failures. Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other shop tools safely to complete fabrication tasks. Assist in the assembly of machined components and participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling processes. Qualifications Proven experience as a Tool Room Machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of plastics injection molding is preferred. Proficiency in CNC programming with Fanuc controls or similar systems is required. Strong understanding of GD&T principles, blueprint reading, and mechanical drawings. Skilled in operating CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, EDM machines, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Familiarity with SolidWorks, CAD software, CAM programming, and basic math skills for precise measurements. Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges effectively. Knowledge of tooling setup, welding techniques, hand tools, power tools, and safety protocols. Mechanical aptitude with a good understanding of manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding. Valid certification or experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM), CNC lathe/milling operations, and lean manufacturing practices is advantageous. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high attention to detail.
