Role Summary WALCO Tool & Engineering is seeking a mid-level CNC Programmer to translate engineering intent into accurate, repeatable CNC programs that support on-time, high-quality production. This role is essential to standardizing programming methods, reducing cycle time where possible, and ensuring parts meet print requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Review blueprints and routing sheets to create efficient, standardized CNC programs Build and maintain clear, well-organized programming documentation Partner with machinists and engineers to confirm program accuracy, efficiency, and part performance Required qualifications/skills: 3+ years of CNC programming experience Proficiency with CAM software (required) Working knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling applications Advanced blueprint reading; in-depth GD&T knowledge Strong understanding of engineering documentation (Veri-cut experience is a plus) If you take a disciplined, detail-focused approach to programming, we encourage you to apply. A Typical Shift You'll work onsite in Romeoville, IL on a steady Monday-Friday schedule (6:00 AM-2:30 PM). Your day centers on carefully interpreting detailed engineering drawings—material specifications, heat-treatment notes, and design features—then converting that information into clean, standardized programs. You'll keep your files and notes structured so setups and revisions are straightforward, and you'll stay closely aligned with the shop floor by checking in with machinists and engineers to confirm prints, assumptions, and expected outcomes before work moves forward.
