We are looking for more than someone who can simply write CNC programs. This person will be a hands-on technical leader on our shop floor and one of the primary people our operators and setup personnel go to when they have machining or production problems. The ideal candidate can take a job from print to production while also helping us solve the everyday problems that occur in a busy CNC machining operation. What You'll Do Program CNC milling equipment. Develop machining processes for new and existing parts. Select tooling, feeds and speeds, operation sequences, and workholding. Perform and support machine setups and program proveouts. Troubleshoot tooling, dimensional, setup, fixture, and machining problems. Improve cycle times, tool life, and process reliability. Serve as a technical resource for CNC operators and setup personnel. Help employees troubleshoot problems and get machines back into production. Work with management and Quality to determine how rework and nonconforming parts should be processed. Help develop and coordinate rework processes when needed. Train and support CNC operators and setup personnel. Help identify recurring production problems and develop longterm solutions. Participate in interviews for CNC operators and other shopfloor positions. Help evaluate whether candidates have the mechanical aptitude, technical ability, and problemsolving skills to succeed in the job. Provide management with recommendations on prospective employees. Communicate shopfloor issues to management and Quality. Help keep production moving throughout the day. This is a shop-floor leadership position, but final authority for hiring, pay, discipline, scheduling, and other personnel decisions remains with company management. We need someone who employees can go to when they have a problem and who is capable of helping determine the best way to solve it. What We're Looking For 5+ years of CNC programming/setup experience preferred. Strong CNC milling background. Horizontal machining center experience strongly preferred. Mastercam or comparable CAM experience. Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, feeds and speeds, and machining fundamentals. Ability to read prints, tolerances, and GD&T. Strong troubleshooting and problemsolving ability. Experience with Makino and/or Fanuc controls is a plus. Experience machining castings is a plus. Previous experience helping lead, train, interview, or evaluate CNC shop employees is preferred. Typical schedule is approximately 40-45 hours per week, with additional overtime available when production requirements warrant it.
