Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Tooling Specialist to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing tooling and fixtures used across our production processes. Your expertise will ensure precision machining, efficient fabrication, and high-quality assembly of components. Duties Develop and modify tooling designs using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD to support manufacturing needs. Program CNC machines including CNC lathes, milling machines, and stamping presses using CAM programming techniques. Set up and operate CNC equipment for machining metal and plastics with precision, adhering to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards. Conduct inspections of tooling and machined parts utilizing calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and other precision measuring instruments. Maintain detailed schematics, assembly instructions, and fabrication documentation for tooling components. Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines and hand tools to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot tooling issues related to CNC programming, fabrication, or assembly processes. Requirements Proven experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. Strong knowledge of CNC programming Skilled in GD&T principles for precise measurement and quality control of machined parts. Hands-on experience with tooling, saws and molders. Mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing processes including assembly, hand tools usage, and fabrication methods. Ability to read schematics and drawings accurately. Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges. Strong math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machining parameters. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement in tooling efficiency. Prior experience in the lumber industry is highly desirable.
