CNC Setup Multi-Axis Milling (Fanuc / Haas)

Position Summary SIMS, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled CNC Setup Machinist (Milling-Focused) with hands-on experience in 3, 4, and 5-axis machining environments , along with working knowledge of CNC lathes . This role requires an individual who can independently take a job from program review → setup → first article → production handoff . This is not an operator role . Candidates must demonstrate strong setup ownership, tooling knowledge, and the ability to work with existing CNC programs across both milling and (to a lesser extent) turning environments . Key Responsibilities Perform complete setups on CNC mills (Fanuc horizontal/vertical mills and Haas VF2) Review, understand, and validate CNC programs (Mastercam or similar CAM preferred) Select tooling, set offsets, and establish workholding solutions Interpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&T Execute first article parts and support production handoff Troubleshoot machining and program-related issues independently Support basic to intermediate setup activities on CNC lathes as needed Collaborate across mill and lathe departments to ensure workflow continuity Maintain quality standards aligned with AS9100 practices Required Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of CNC setup experience (milling required) Strong experience with Fanuc and/or Haas controls Hands-on experience with 3-axis and 4-axis machining (5-axis preferred) Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and tolerances Proven ability to independently complete milling setups Strong understanding of cutting tools, feeds/speeds, and machining strategies

Pay:

$25.56 - $32.00 per hour
