5-Axis CNC Programmer Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented 5-Axis CNC Programmer with strong aerospace manufacturing experience to develop, optimize, and maintain complex machining programs for precision components. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in tight-tolerance, high-spec environments, advanced multi-axis programming using Mastercam, hands-on knowledge of high-end 5 axis Makino machining centers, CNC lathe programming with live tooling, and program verification using Vericut. This role requires close collaboration with engineering and production teams to deliver consistent, high-quality results in a demanding aerospace environment. Key Responsibilities Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for complex aerospace components using 5-axis machining in Mastercam Create and refine advanced multi-axis tool paths for intricate geometries and hard-to-machine materials commonly used in aerospace Program and support CNC lathes with live tooling for mill-turn aerospace applications Assist in set up, prove out, and validate programs on Makino machining centers and CNC lathes Perform simulation and verification using Vericut to ensure collision-free, efficient, and compliant machining processes Interpret aerospace technical drawings, CAD models, and GD&T with a high level of accuracy Select tooling, cutting strategies, and machining parameters optimized for aerospace materials and tolerances Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to meet strict aerospace quality and repeatability standards Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet customer and regulatory requirements Maintain thorough program documentation, setup sheets, and revision control in accordance with aerospace standards Drive continuous improvement in cycle times, tool life, and process reliability Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and aerospace industry standards Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED (Associate's or technical degree preferred) 3+ years of CNC programming experience with a strong focus on aerospace manufacturing and Proven experience programming complex 5-axis parts for aerospace applications Proficiency in Mastercam (advanced multi-axis required) Experience with CNC program verification using Vericut Hands-on experience with high-performance machining centers, preferably Makino Experience programming CNC lathes with live tooling (mill-turn) Strong understanding of G-code, M-code, Macro, and multi-axis machine kinematics Advanced ability to read and interpret aerospace drawings, CAD models, and GD&T Demonstrated experience holding tight tolerances and meeting strict quality standards Preferred Qualifications Experience working with aerospace materials (e.g., titanium, Inconel, aluminum alloys) Familiarity with aerospace quality systems and standards (e.g., AS9100) Experience optimizing programs for high-speed machining (HSM) environments Understanding of mill-turn processes and multi-tasking machines Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles Experience with post-processor tuning or customization Key Skills Advanced 5-axis programming and toolpath optimization in Mastercam CNC lathe programming with live tooling (mill-turn capability) Proficiency in CNC simulation and verification using Vericut Strong problem-solving and analytical ability in high-precision environments Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality Mechanical aptitude with deep understanding of aerospace machining challenges Effective communication and collaboration skills Ability to act as a positive "influencer" on the shop floor, promoting teamwork, accountability, and a solutions-oriented mindset Work Environment & Company Culture Manufacturing/shop floor specializing in aerospace precision machining, utilizing high-end Makino machining centers and CNC lathes Fast-paced, high-precision environment with strict quality and performance expectations We foster a culture built on: Problem Solving
