\$32-\$42 POSITION SUMMARY The CNC Programmer uses Mastercam/SolidWorks to provide CNC programs in an accurate, efficient, well documented, archived format to the machine shop. The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and CNC machines to produce precision components according to specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, technical drawings, and quality standards to ensure parts are manufactured accurately and efficiently.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to generate and edit NC code through all shop processes in an accurate and timely fashion. Ability to create/maintain setup SOPs for all written programs. 2D and solid model programming. Recommend tooling solutions for metal cutting throughout the shop. Ability to design and manufacture work holding fixtures for machine tools. Set up and operate manual and CNC lathe and milling machines to produce parts to required tolerances and perform drilling, tapping, and deburring tasks. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders. Measure and inspect the first article produced to ensure its quality by using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges). Monitor machining processes, make adjustments, and ensure machines are operating at optimal performance. Ability to multitask or operate additional machines when required. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment as needed. Maintain accurate production records and follow all documentation procedures. Work with engineering and quality teams to resolve machining and production issues. Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Report any safety or maintenance concerns to management immediately. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in efficiency, productivity, and quality. Strive to meet production schedules without compromising quality. Attend all safety and production training. Be available for overtime during high volume periods.
REQUIREED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. CNC Programming Certificate preferred. 5+ years of metal cutting experience. 5+ years of experience programming CNC lathes, milling centers, wire EDM, and water jet machines. Ability to read blueprints. Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics. Working knowledge of GD&T. Working knowledge of Mastercam; SoildWorks a plus.
