Architectural Millwork / Custom Woodworking About the Position We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our millwork shop. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience programming and operating CNC equipment specifically for woodworking, cabinetry, architectural millwork, or custom fabrication . This position is responsible for translating shop drawings and production requirements into accurate CNC programs and ensuring that parts are programmed efficiently and accurately for production. We are looking for someone who understands the unique requirements of CNC machining wood, plywood, MDF, veneers, solid lumber, and other woodworking materials and can work closely with our drafting, estimating, project management, and production teams. Key Responsibilities Program CNC machinery for the production of custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, and woodworking components. Review shop drawings, CAD files, and production information to determine machining requirements. Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for accuracy and efficient production. Generate toolpaths, nesting layouts, drilling patterns, cutting operations, and other CNC processes. Ensure CNC programs accurately reflect approved drawings and project specifications. Select appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies for various wood-based materials. Review programmed parts for accuracy before releasing them to production. Troubleshoot programming and machining issues and make necessary adjustments. Work closely with CNC operators and shop personnel to resolve production issues. Communicate with the drafting and project management teams regarding drawing or programming questions. Identify opportunities to improve CNC efficiency, material utilization, and production workflow. Maintain organized CNC files, programs, and job documentation. Assist with CNC machine setup and operation as needed. Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area. Required Qualifications Previous CNC programming experience in woodworking, cabinetry, architectural millwork, or a similar wood manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of CNC machining processes for wood and wood-based materials. Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, architectural drawings, and CAD files. Experience creating and modifying CNC programs and toolpaths. Knowledge of CNC tooling and machining techniques used for wood, plywood, MDF, and solid wood. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce highly accurate work. Ability to troubleshoot programming and machining problems. Ability to work independently while also collaborating with production and office personnel. Strong organizational and communication skills. Commitment to quality, accuracy, and safe work practices. Preferred Qualifications Experience with CNC programming software such as Cabinet Vision, Alphacam, VCarve, Mastercam, Mozaik, or similar software. Experience with CNC routers used in cabinet and architectural millwork production. Experience with nesting software and sheet optimization. Experience working from AutoCAD or other CAD files. Previous experience in a custom architectural millwork or high-end cabinetry shop. Familiarity with production workflows from approved drawings through CNC fabrication and assembly. Experience setting up and/or operating CNC routers. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who understands that CNC programming for wood manufacturing is more than simply creating toolpaths . Physical & Work Requirements Ability to work in a manufacturing/millwork shop environment. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shop as required.
