Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Cylindrical Grinder to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for precisely grinding cylindrical parts to exact specifications, ensuring optimal quality and performance of our products. Your expertise in manual grinding techniques, combined with your mechanical knowledge and attention to detail, will contribute significantly to our production excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about precision machining and manufacturing processes. Duties Set up and operate manual cylindrical grinding machines to produce components within specified tolerances. Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to determine machining requirements. Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Adjust machine settings and tooling to achieve desired surface finish and dimensional accuracy. Maintain and troubleshoot grinding equipment, including Fanuc-controlled machines when applicable. Collaborate with engineering teams on CNC programming, CAM programming, and tooling selection to optimize manufacturing processes. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment while handling hand tools, power tools, and tooling equipment. Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying process improvements and reducing waste. Assist in assembly or related tasks as needed within the manufacturing process. Skills Extensive experience with manual cylindrical grinding techniques and machinery. Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications. Strong mechanical knowledge of manufacturing equipment including CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, and CNC grinders. Familiarity with CNC programming concepts; experience with Fanuc controls is a plus. Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and CMMs. Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, welding, and assembly is advantageous. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and other manufacturing equipment safely. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tolerances. Experience working within lean manufacturing environments to improve efficiency. Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills in a fast-paced setting.
