Job Title:
CNC Programmer Job Description The CNC Programmer develops, writes, and optimizes programs used to run CNC machines for precision manufacturing. This role ensures that parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and in strict accordance with engineering specifications. The programmer works closely with machinists, engineers, and production teams to support high‑quality output and drive continuous improvement in machining processes. Responsibilities Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and CAM software to support precision manufacturing operations. Create, modify, and refine CNC programs for mills and lathes to ensure accurate and efficient machining. Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and production teams to translate engineering requirements into effective machining programs. Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and technical specifications to program parts correctly. Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material type and part requirements. Support machine setup by assisting machinists with setups, first-article inspections, and troubleshooting program-related issues. Continuously improve machining processes by optimizing cycle times, tool life, and machining strategies. Verify part accuracy and conformance using calipers, micrometers, CMM data, and other precision inspection tools. Identify and resolve programming and machining issues to maintain consistent quality and production efficiency. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality, throughput, and reliability in the machining department. Essential Skills Proven experience developing, writing, and optimizing CNC programs for precision manufacturing. Strong proficiency in G-code programming for CNC mills and lathes. Hands-on experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or GibbsCAM. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and technical specifications accurately. Solid understanding of machining principles, including tooling selection, speeds, and feeds for various materials. Experience supporting CNC machine setup, including first-article inspections and troubleshooting. Competence in using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and CMM data for quality verification. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and correct programming and machining issues. Effective collaboration skills to work closely with machinists, engineers, and production staff. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with both CNC mills and CNC lathes in a production environment. General machining and CNC machining processes. Familiarity with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and interpreting CMM reports. Exposure to process optimization and continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting. Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Why Work Here?
