Job Description

Job Summary The Programmer is fully responsible for machine program related improvements and daily/weekly programming related tasks including error proofing, operator training/support, troubleshooting, etc. The Programmer will report to the Manufacturing Engineering team and, as the front-line extension of that team, represent the team with professionalism and competency. This position is critical to Operations and Engineering efforts and will be instrumental in driving improvements as ACA continues to grow. Responsibilities As a front-line leader, observe and correct issues as they occur, reducing their impact and implementing solutions to correct root causes Verify setups on high-volume machines prior to beginning operations Provide training to operators and feedback to supervisors, engineers, etc Error proof processes building in checks, operator prompts, detailed notes, work instructions, safeties, etc. Create and support the rollout of controlled master programs for product families. Provide daily support to CNC machines including assisting with setups, data acquisition, implementing corrective/preventative actions, root cause investigations, etc. Create and support programs as needed. Support Engineering and Operations projects as needed including prototyping, R D, fixturing, proofreading, troubleshooting/debugging, and supporting new capital investment projects from a programming perspective from concept through full production implementation Provide training to operators as required to ensure process procedures are well comprehended and followed. Provide hands-on engineering support for new processes or new product industrialization and initial production runs ensuring that the process is capable of safely producing high quality product that meets specification, productivity, and cost targets. Work with internal and external suppliers of materials, equipment, and services to execute projects, resolve problems, and improve processes. Support business plan objectives to increase productivity, reduce waste, improve quality, and enhance safety. Participate, and support cross-functional project teams as assigned to achieve required objectives on time and on budget. Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL. A team player with strong interpersonal skills able to relate very well to people at all levels of the plant. Must be motivated to drive positive change in a fast paced and often challenging environment, navigating obstacles with minimal supervision to accomplish goals. Fact and data-oriented individual with sound judgment, excellent problem-solving skills, who is determinedly objective and uninfluenced by speculation. The ideal candidate will act in a way that appropriately represents and further develops the high standard and good reputation of the engineering team. Working Conditions Primarily a first shift, operations-oriented position also able to support/observe off or weekend shifts with sometimes minimal notice Heavy machining environment consisting of CNC mills/lathes, welding, some robotics, and manual operations Mostly manufacturing/production area with 20-40% office work
