Job Description

SHR Talent is partnering with a client in Nashville, TN in its search for a CNC Programmer to support precision manufacturing and machining operations. The CNC Programmer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for machining equipment, translating engineering drawings and specifications into efficient manufacturing processes, and partnering with machinists, engineers, and production teams to improve quality, productivity, and machine performance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, G-code, machining processes, tooling, setup, and process optimization in a manufacturing environment. This position is well suited for a technically skilled CNC professional who understands both programming and shop-floor machining and can develop reliable programs that produce high-quality parts while reducing cycle times, scrap, and production inefficiencies. Responsibilities Develop, write, test, and optimize CNC programs for machining and manufacturing operations. Program CNC equipment using CAD/CAM software, G-code, M-code, and machine-specific programming languages. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, technical specifications, and 3D models to determine machining requirements. Create efficient machining strategies, toolpaths, setups, and production sequences for new and existing parts. Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, fixtures, and machining parameters based on materials and production requirements. Partner with CNC machinists and operators to troubleshoot programming, setup, tooling, and machining issues on the production floor. Perform program prove-outs and validate CNC programs prior to full production. Optimize existing CNC programs to improve cycle times, machine utilization, part quality, tool life, and manufacturing efficiency. Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, setup time, and production downtime. Make program adjustments based on inspection results, machine performance, tooling conditions, and production feedback. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Operations teams to resolve manufacturing challenges. Support new product introductions, prototype development, and transition of new parts into production. Ensure manufactured components meet required dimensions, tolerances, quality standards, and customer specifications. Maintain accurate CNC program files, setup documentation, tooling information, revision controls, and manufacturing instructions. Troubleshoot CNC machine alarms, programming errors, toolpath issues, and production-related machining problems. Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, cost reduction, and process efficiency. Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing best practices. Provide technical guidance and programming support to CNC machinists, operators, and other production personnel as needed. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in CNC programming, CNC machining, manufacturing engineering, or a related machining environment preferred. Strong hands-on knowledge of CNC machining processes, programming, setup, tooling, and machine operation. Experience programming CNC mills, lathes, routers, machining centers, or other computer numerical control equipment. Proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks CAM, GibbsCAM, NX CAM, or similar programming platforms. Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming and the ability to edit CNC programs at the machine when necessary. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, tolerances, and technical specifications. Knowledge of machining principles, cutting tools, workholding, fixtures, speeds and feeds, and material characteristics. Experience with CNC program prove-outs, process development, troubleshooting, and cycle-time optimization. Strong understanding of precision measurement and inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other metrology tools. Experience working within a manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or production environment. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex machining and manufacturing problems. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, or process optimization is preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with machinists, operators, engineers, quality personnel, and production leadership. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, accuracy, safety, and manufacturing efficiency. Associate degree, technical certification, apprenticeship, or vocational training in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered. #IND123
