Job Description

Overview:
The CNC Programmer is responsible for programming jobs, selecting and setting up correct tooling and optimizing machining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
(include but not limited to) : Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following: Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits. Maintain a safe and clean work area. Utilize Solidworks and Mastercam Software to create 2D and 3D tool paths to program 3 and 4 axis vertical/horizontal mills. Create diagrams or blueprints for work pieces or products. Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates. Program equipment to perform production tasks. Determine the sequence of machine operations, and select the proper cutting tools need to machine work pieces into the desired shapes. Determine reference points, machine cutting paths, or hole locations, and compute angular and linear dimensions Write instruction sheets and cutter lists for a machine's controller to guide setup and encode numerical control tapes. Plan production or operational procedures or sequences. Assist CNC Operators with program troubleshooting and feed/speed optimization. Revise programs or tapes to eliminate errors, and retest programs to check to problems have been resolved. Modify existing programs to enhance efficiency. Performs periodic maintenance on equipment in accordance with QMS procedures. Support the Estimating Department in bidding new projects. Participate, as required, in new product design and development efforts. Perform other jobs or functions assigned by manager/supervisor.
Qualifications:
Minimum Preferred Qualifications, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following: High School Diploma or GED (2) years of continuing education and (2) years experience as a machinist.
  • may substitute (1) year of additional experience for each (1) year of required continuing education.
(5) years of consistent working experience.
