Job Description

CNC ProgrammerPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented CNC Programmer to develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for turning and milling operations in a high-precision, tight-tolerance manufacturing environment. The role focuses on converting engineering drawings into efficient G-code using CAM systems (MasterCAM, Fusion 360, etc.), supporting multi-axis machining, and collaborating with engineering and shop personnel to ensure parts meet dimensional, surface finish, and quality requirements while maximizing productivity.

Key ResponsibilitiesCreate and optimize CNC programs for turning and milling operations using CAM software (MasterCAM, Fusion 360, and other CAM tools).Generate and edit G-code for 2-, 3-, and multi-axis machine centers and lathes, ensuring safe, efficient toolpaths and correct machine parameters.

Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T to produce programs that meet tight-tolerance and high-precision requirements.

Simulate and verify toolpaths in CAM and offline simulators to prevent collisions and reduce trial cycles on the machine.

Collaborate with machinists, setup personnel, and engineers to validate programs during first articles and through process validation.

Select cutting tools, holders, feeds, and speeds optimized for material, machine capability, and finish requirements; recommend fixturing and workholding as needed.

Troubleshoot programming and machining issues, implement corrective actions, and update programs and documentation accordingly.

Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, extend tool life, and improve part quality and repeatability.

Maintain program library, tooling and fixture documentation, and maintain revision control for part programs.

Provide clear setup sheets and operator instructions for efficient and accurate machine setup and run-offs.

QualificationsAssociate degree or technical certificate in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.3+ years of CNC programming experience for both turning and milling in a production environment; experience with multi-axis (3/4/5-axis) programming preferred.

Proven proficiency with CAM systems, specifically MasterCAM and/or Fusion 360; ability to create and optimize toolpaths and post-processors.

Strong knowledge of G-code creation and editing, machine cycles, and controller basics.

Solid understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and geometric tolerancing for high-precision manufacturing.

Experience working in tight-tolerance environments and producing parts to strict dimensional and surface-finish requirements.

Familiarity with inspection tools and processes (CMM, micrometers, calipers) and first-article inspection procedures.

Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with shop floor personnel and engineering teams.

Willingness to participate in shop-floor troubleshooting and occasional support for setup and machining as needed.
