Job DescriptionJob DescriptionMarine Painter Roles and Responsibilities:
Perform sandblasting, painting, and other coating applications. Coating applications will be to MIL thickness specificationsTest, record and understand all pertinent information regarding the application coating processPlan details of working procedures to accomplish tasks and plan out tool, material, and personnel requirements.Perform all functions in a careful and safe manner while always keeping an eye out for others in the area.
Keep equipment and work area clean and organized. Ensure proper adherence to environmental requirements when performing the sandblasting or application process.
Perform tasks on time and within/under budget.
Perform other company duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills
/Experience:
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a spray, brush, and roller painter, of epoxy and non-epoxy coatings in the marine/shipyard industriesMust work well in a team environmentMust be able to perform basic tasks with hand tools; Must be able to use, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment and power toolsAbility to read blueprints, and drawings for tasks specific to a jobAbility to follow directions and work independentlyExperience laying out non-skid deckingExperience Caulking and finishing Experience in working in a physically demanding environment, confined spaces, working at heights, and usage of respiratory protective equipment (respirator fit test and safety training required)Familiarity with a variety of sandblasting media and coating application materialsWillingness to be cross trained in other marine crafts activitiesConfidentiality, tact, and discretion when dealing with peopleDetail oriented while able to continuously improve efficiencyReliability; Positive attitude; Desire for self-improvementMust be willing to travel on occasion to offsite locations Must be able to estimate materials and usage of consumables Must work within a budget and give feedback on delays, shortages, and overagesMust be available to work overtime and weekends when needed Starting Hourly Pay Range for thisPosition:
$25 to $28 per hour - this will be based on previous work experience, skills, and current certifications/professional licenses.Environmental Factors:
Exposure to fumes, dust, chemicals and gases, various temperatures and ventilation, all of which can cause discomfort or respiratory difficulties. May work in awkward positions or postures. Exposure to constantly moving machines and mechanical parts and high levels of constant noise.Employee Benefits:
