Caulking Full Job Description Job Purpose:
Bring Value to the production department as a painter. Specializing is helpful but a production employee must be able to do all things in the department, multitask, communicate and complete projects accurately and before deadlines.
Mission:
The mission for this role is to provide high quality painted products in a timely manner to the clients of The Sign Brothers and to be the expert to the internal staff for all things related to "paint" at the Sign Brothers.
Primary Duties:
Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to signage as well as various sign grade substrates Prepare surfaces by scraping, wire brushing, or sanding to a smooth finish Mix and match colors for paint projects according to specifications using our Matthews Paint Station Read and interpret job jackets to determine painting requirements Perform tasks such as caulking, sanding, Bondo with repairs, and fixture installation Utilize knowledge of color theory to create aesthetically pleasing results Maintain tools and equipment in good condition Oversee paint area cleanliness and operate in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA regulations Accountable for the delivery of each customer's job determined by the Production manager while meeting all quality and productivity targets according to the forecast and/or scheduling timelines. Accountable for all things pertaining to paint. Ordering, stocking, cleaning, and managing the area as a whole. Prioritize sign requests daily. Listen to the production manager to determine production goals for the present and future to help fulfill their daily and weekly goals. Assist in the training of new paint department employees. Ensure exceptional quality of outgoing finished products with the project manager. Ensure the organization and cleanliness of the production areas Report any Health and Safety issues to a Manager immediately. Performs any other reasonable assignments / extra hours given by Management or his/her designates. For example working with the Install Manager and Installation department when necessary.
Secondary Duties:
Use standard procedures that were taught and asked to adhere to for the production department. Accountable for the safe use of equipment during use and maintenance (Router, CWT, Flatbed Printer) Create consistent, dependable, predictable, quality products Accountable for keeping materials in stock per management's request Lead and drive continuous improvement to include production methods, productivity, turn time, equipment performance, quality, reproductions, and employee safety while engaging and challenging the department team for improvement ideas. Accountable for knowing past week reproduction numbers and how you affected them. Continuously seek to improvement painting skill set Work effectively together with the production department as a team to achieve daily and weekly goals Initiate action with the Production Manager when work orders are not correct. Initiate action when necessary to help with the installation team.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a painter with expertise in various surface applications Proficiency in reading and understanding written instructions used for painting requirements Skilled in caulking, repairs, and high level painting techniques Strong knowledge of color theory and its application in painting projects Ability to maintain tools and equipment properly Leadership skills to effectively lead a team of painters Some days there are physical demands such as standing for long periods of time while doing repetitive tasks.
Working Conditions:
Conditions include using extreme caution for each employee's safety day in and day out. Conditions also include lifting heavy objects, working outdoors during hot and cold weather days. Some late evenings and weekends are occasionally needed.
