Summary:
The Paint Prep/Painter will be responsible for preparing all jobs as directed by Corporate Paint Manager, perform body work, paint prep, seam seal and masking of bodies as required on all jobs that come to the paint department. Some minor hand tools required for this position. Essential Functions This includes the following but is not limited to the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by supervisory personnel. Prep vehicles for paint by cleaning, sanding, and masking surfaces. Operate power tools and paint spraying equipment effectively. De-nib and buff paint work. Mix paint with computer system. Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old paint, priming surfaces, or applying other surface preparations as needed Utilize sandpaper, scraping to strip old paint, executing preparation work for the surfaces, and applying filler Paint Interior & Exterior of body, chassis & misc. parts. (Single stage/ Base Clear Coat) Conduct paint equipment maintenance tasks as needed, ensuring all equipment is in good working order. Always maintain a clean and well-kept area exercising the 5S Culture. Repair body damage. Occasionally spray epoxy primers and multi spec for interior compartment repair after modifications have been performed. Spray multiple coatings on trucks Sand, seam seal and mask bodies in preparation for paint or other coatings. Know and maintain all EPA regulations as required. Report any unsafe conditions to Department Manager as they are seen or occur. Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards. Minimum Requirements Proven experience as a paint prepper or similar role in an automotive body shop Proficiency in using power tools and paint spraying equipment Knowledge of automotive painting techniques and materials Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks as required by the job. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high quality work Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment. High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training is a plus Physical Demands The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb and balance. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and on occasions lift up to 50 pounds and move more than 100 pounds. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work Cobalt Truck Equipment hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. Your supervisor at their discretion may alter your work schedule at any time to accommodate the work load. This is a full-time position and a forty hour work week is mandatory.
