Job Description

Formel D is hiring Paint Technicians for our Normal, Il location! Technicians will clean up and repair small paint defects and dirt inclusions on finished vehicles. Position requires knowledge and use of normal hand tools associated with automotive painting (sanders, spray guns, sanders, buffers, etc.) This is a full-time position that will be responsible for working inside various OEM and Tier 1 manufacturing facilities on a project-by-project basis. Travel expenses and per diem provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Spot panel blend and clear blending Bumper and painting Paint touch-up and chip repair Perform minor cosmetic repairs and body damage repair Perform paint retouching, post-paint finishing Must be a paint spot repair master Must be able to use air buffer to blend spot repairs in areas as needed Complete/assist in minor disassembly of vehicle when required (i.e. door, bumpers, etc)
Qualification/Requirement:
Extensive experience with air paint repair tools and hand tools required Auto painting and spot repair PPG paints and 2K clearcoats: 3 years (Preferred) Auto-body repair: 1 year (Preferred) ICAR Certification (Preferred) BASF Certification (Preferred) Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (Preferred) Vehicle sanding, primer, top coat and clear coat application: 3 years (Preferred) Mix & apply primer, top coat & clear coat finishes: 3 years (Preferred) Certificate of completion from automotive painting program or equivalent experience Experience in working on a commission/contractor basis is a plus, but not necessary.
Note:
This is not a commission/contractor based position. Ability to effectively communicate with client and all levels of your organization.
Experience/Education:
High school diploma; associate's or higher preferred Certificate of competition from automotive painting program or equivalent experience
Environmental Requirements:
Will be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise. Some duties performed outside in all weather conditions. This is a physically demanding position. Must be able to lift, push, pull, move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to work at heights up to 20-25 feet. Regularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours.
