Job Description
Painter 1 | Utilimaster | Bristol, IN (Main) Regular Employee | Hourly Non-Exempt What you'll do:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for painting full sized vehicles with very minimal defects Perform preventive maintenance on paint equipment Identify and spot repair paint defects in accordance with appearance specification Verify cleaning chemical concentrations Pre-treat and prep cabs and parts for paint Spray base coat and clear coat Mix tints following a formula to match paint codes Maintain accurate documentation of paint codes Coordinate material movement within the paint area Load and unload parts on racking or carts per process documentation Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete duties in assigned area Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etcetera, as required by a particular area Self-check work and inspect prior processes Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required Meet production goals Maintain a clean and safe work area Initiate process improvements Support 5S in work area Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues Solve complex problems with minimal assistance Know various customer vehicles and trucks Ability to mask multiple color units & train FAP Paint Undercoat Paint Touch Up Wheel Alignment What you need to be successful:QUALIFICATIONS
HS Diploma or GED required (Automotive paint certification or vocational school certificate preferred) Minimum 1-2 years Automotive paint experience Excellent attendance Positive attitude Strong and consistent attention to detail Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task Team oriented Basic computer skills are required No critical shortcomings on last performance review Demonstrated understanding of Paint materials and cleaning chemicals Vocational training for automotive finishing, preferredABLE TO:
Tolerate very high heat temperatures, high dust, and exposure to chemicals Work overtime on short noticeBE WILLING TO
Wear PPE respirators for extended amount of time Improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed) Develop a working knowledge of company's systems (example: AS/400) Why The Shyft Group?
