Job Title:
Industrial Painter Responsibilities Prepare and paint the interior and exterior surfaces of assembled parts using industrial spray equipment and various painting techniques. Apply coatings in accordance with Military Specifications and customer requirements to achieve specified finish quality and performance. Read and interpret mechanical drawings to understand masking requirements and the proper application of primers and top coats. Perform sandblasting, masking, and paint preparation in line with customer specifications and internal quality standards. Mix primers and paints in accordance with required ratios and viscosity to achieve specified film thickness, adhesion, gloss, and overall coating performance. Set up, operate, and maintain spray guns, paint booths, and related coating equipment safely and efficiently. Inspect surfaces before and after painting to ensure proper preparation, coverage, and finish quality. Perform sanding and surface conditioning as needed to prepare parts for coating and to correct minor defects. Handle and apply multi-component coatings, including powder coatings where applicable, following all process and safety guidelines. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper storage and handling of paints, solvents, and blasting media. Follow all production schedules and work instructions to meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve issues related to paint quality, equipment, or process improvements. Essential Skills At least 2 years of industrial painting experience, preferably within aerospace or military environments; manufacturing experience considered. Proficiency in industrial painting techniques, including spray painting with spray guns and paint sprayers. Demonstrated ability to paint to Military Specifications (Mil Spec) and meet strict quality requirements. Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, including masking and coating requirements. Hands-on experience with sandblasting, masking, and paint preparation in an industrial setting. Strong skills in mixing primers and paints according to specified ratios and viscosity to achieve required thickness, adhesion, and gloss. Experience working with multi-component coatings and industrial paints in paint booths. Ability to perform sanding, blasting, and coating operations safely and efficiently. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining high-quality standards. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westminster, MD 21157. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
