- Chattanooga, TN
- This person will transfer permanently to Toledo, OH in January 2027 Responsibilities
- Lead paint development activities to achieve required quality levels and OEM specifications at committed cost
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams including plant production, paint setting, laboratory, suppliers, and customers
- Ensure paint process stability for both product and process, including quality, repeatability, and consistency
- Manage paint technical relationships with raw material suppliers and validate new paint products
- Define paint zoning commitments and ensure proper application of Design-to-Paint methodology
- Drive jigs development from CAD design through on-site validation, including prototype phases
- Lead paint trials, evaluate painted parts, and define necessary adjustments for robust process performance
- Validate paint ranges, application parameters, and customer specifications (mechanical and appearance)
- Participate in run@rate events and support PPAP activities, including customer buy-offs
- Identify paint-related continuous improvement opportunities and support productivity initiatives Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in paint, coatings, chemistry, or process engineering within the automotive industry
- Prior involvement in project organization or cross‑functional project leadership
- Strong knowledge of liquid paint application processes for Class A automotive surfaces
- Ability to measure and evaluate color, surface structure, and paint defects
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to take full responsibility for paint development results
- Strong communication, analytical, and collaborative capabilities
- Ability to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and OEM customers
