About the
Role:
The Equipment Painter plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the appearance and durability of industrial and commercial equipment through expert painting techniques. This position involves preparing surfaces, selecting appropriate paints and coatings, and applying them to various types of equipment to protect against corrosion, wear, and environmental damage. The Equipment Painter ensures that all painting work meets quality standards and safety regulations, contributing to the longevity and functionality of the equipment. Attention to detail and precision are essential, as the finished product must meet both aesthetic and protective requirements. Ultimately, this role supports operational efficiency by preserving equipment integrity and appearance, which is vital for company reputation and client satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience as a painter, preferably in an industrial or equipment painting environment. Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and paint application methods. Ability to read and interpret work orders, technical drawings, and safety data sheets. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials, and work in various environmental conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in industrial painting or coatings application. Experience with spray painting equipment and techniques. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and environmental regulations related to painting. Basic mechanical skills to assist with minor equipment adjustments. Experience working with different types of coatings such as epoxy, polyurethane, and powder coatings.
Responsibilities:
Prepare equipment surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and masking to ensure proper paint adhesion. Mix and apply paints, primers, and coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment according to specifications. Inspect painted surfaces for defects and perform touch-ups or rework as necessary to meet quality standards. Maintain and clean painting tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations related to paint handling and disposal. Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to schedule painting tasks with minimal disruption. Document work performed and materials used to maintain accurate records for quality control.
